The Oakmont Library and the Oakmont Historical Society present… The Do-It-Yourself Mystery Walk! This self-guided walking tour, a free booklet that guides you through Oakmont’s spookiest stories, will be available at the library at 700 Allegheny River Boulevard and the Oakmont Historical Society Center at 628 Allegheny River Boulevard from October 1st – October 31st. The DIY Mystery Walk booklet features seven stories by Gary Rogers – all true mysteries that have been passed down through generations of Oakmont residents – and an easy-to-follow map that takes you along Allegheny Avenue, up Delaware, and down Fourth Street. Use the map, follow the route, and read the stories inside the booklet to learn about these terrifying tales from our town… If you dare!
BIG BAG BOOK SALE

Join us for our semi annual BIG BAG BOOK SALE which will take place in The Squirrel’s Nest Bookstore and the rest of the lower level of the library. All ages will enjoy searching for great books. Bring the family and friends and enjoy a day of book hunting! $5 a bag (we provide the bags).
There will also be a separate room with Antique and Collectable books and signed copies at special prices!
(The Squirrel’s Nest will be closed for a week following the sale to reorganize and will REOPEN on Monday, November 11th!).
Forest Walk with a Naturalist: ‘Changes in the Autumn Woods’

Join us for a walk in Dark Hollow Woods as Scott explains the Changes in the Autumn Woods.
As the seasons change, there is a lot going on in the life cycles of woodland inhabitants. What are plants, animals, birds and other creatures doing to make it through the winter, or to ensure a future for their offspring?
Walks will take place in Dark Hollow Woods in Oakmont (top of Pennsylvania Ave.) and led by Scott Hill, an Oakmont resident who has recently completed the training to be a Pennsylvania Master Naturalist
The walk will follow a 1.2 mile loop which includes some steep hills. He plans to lead future walks in the spring during wildflower season.
