July 1, 2024 – It has come to my attention that the goats located in Edgewater got out this morning. From my understanding, it is because someone pet one of the goats and the goat tried to follow that person and ended up following a lady walking her dog.

PLEASE DO NOT FEED OR PET THE WORKING GOATS. While the goats are in Oakmont, they are employed by the Borough, and are considered working animals. At the Regular Meeting, held in June, Council approved Ordinance O4-2024 Amending Chapter 202 of the Borough Code to prohibit the feeding of wild animals and animals used for vegetation control.

This ordinance was amended to specifically address feeding goats. Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine of not more than $600, plus costs of prosecution, and in default of payment of such fine and costs by imprisonment for not more than 30 days.
