Yesterday, the Oakmont Fire Department responded to an incident on Allegheny Avenue where Dan McCurdy, the owner of Oakmont Deli, detected the smell of natural gas while making a delivery. Dan promptly called 911. When the fire department arrived, they discovered extremely dangerous levels of natural gas. The crews were able to quickly remove the source then evacuated and ventilated the residents’ homes until it was safe for them to return. We extend our gratitude to Dan McCurdy for his swift actions, which helped prevent a potential tragedy.
