Update from Oakmont Borough
WINTER OPERATIONS UPDATE: January 28, 2026

Some new information since Monday:

The Street Department (4 trucks in total) continues to clear roadways curb-to-curb and are clearing roads using the NO PARKING restrictions typically followed during the street sweeping/road maintenance schedule.

The Thursday and Friday routes cover most areas of Oakmont and we ask that residents in those areas help by moving cars.

If there is a challenge to park somewhere else temporarily, even moving a car for 5-10 minutes helps the crew clear the road to the curb.

Shank Waste is still following the day-late schedule AND are going back to streets not collected from the day before. Shank encourages those residences not collected a day late, keep or put the collection out the next day. They are repeating routes from the day before.

Rock salt does not break down snow and ice on roads at these temperatures. The inventory is low enough that conservation measures are in place. The supplier owes Oakmont 300 tons of rock salt we ordered earlier in the month (so we are a priority); we expect delivery this week.

Your continued patience and understanding is appreciated.
