WINTER OPERATIONS ACTIVATED
Oakmont Borough has activated its Winter Operations in advance of the forecasted winter weather events for the region. The forecast updates are continuous and changing by the day and hour. The forecast within 8-12 hours of the actual storm event arriving is the one we will give the most attention to and how it guides our response.
We would like to also provide the following general information and guidance:
ROAD WINTER MAINTENANCE:
The Street Department will conduct salting and plowing operations throughout the storm event following this protocol:
• Main arterial roadways and hills will be a priority and consistently monitored and maintained.
• Streets where road grade is not an issue and cul-de-sacs and dead end roads will be secondary and treated on an as-needed basis.
• The Department will respond to any location in Oakmont to assist with emergency responders when requested by police, fire, or EMS.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS:
We ask all property owners that have off-street parking to utilize it during the storm event. We also understand that there are properties in Oakmont that off-street parking does not exist. In those cases, understand the vehicle will more than likely be blocked in.
The following locations (map provided) will be posted today for NO PARKING through the duration of Winter Operations and storm event:
ALLEGHENY RIVER BOULEVARD from College Avenue to Hulton Road – southbound lane (train tack side) only.
4TH STREET from College Avenue to End – eastern (high side) only.
1ST STEET from Delaware Avenue to End – western (river side) only.
PARK PLACE entire length (the “inside” portion of the loop only).
ELM WAY from Virginia Avenue to Edgewood Avenue – both sides of roadway.
LUCCA LANE Cul-de-sac area only.
These parking restrictions allow for plowed snow to pile up with as little impact on accessibility as possible.
