
Oakmont Borough governance relies on the active participation of residents who volunteer their time and effort to sustain the quality of community life by offering recommendations, suggestions, and research to Council.
The responsibility of these volunteers is to provide policymakers and administrative personnel with technical expertise, experience, and recommendations for action.
COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Please complete the application form (LINKED BELOW) and indicate your interest in serving on the committee. We have two openings:
- Opportunity #1: Creating social media posts, flyers, and newsletter articles to feature our parks, non-emergency content, and reminders featuring information from the Fire Department and Police, updates on projects and developments from committees/commissions/boards
- Recommended Skills
- Proficient in and access to Canva, Illustrator, or other graphic design program
- Proficient in and access to Office Suite and Google Applications
- Recommended Skills
- Opportunity #2: Film and edit videos with content including but not limited to: tours of Borough facilities and Borough locations (For example – a behind the scenes tour of the water treatment plant), community-wide events parades, and community events

- Proficient in and access to Capcut, iMovie, Canva, or other video editing program
- Proficient in and access to Office Suite and Google Applications

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Attend monthly meetings: Committee meetings occur at least once a month on the third Wednesday each month at 7:30 PM on google meet. We may choose to meet in person as needed.
- Some of our committee goals include:
- Creating a content calendar to ensure seasonal reminders, current news and information, and that updates are shared with the community on a regular basis
- Expanding communication forms as necessary and appropriate
- Review other community’s communication strategies as we build and expand our own
- Encourage the expansion and use of the community calendar by local stakeholders
- Showcase areas and events within the community
- Some of our committee goals include:
- Check and respond to email within 24-48 business days.
- Create content that aligns with your volunteer opportunity choice (#1 OR #2)
- Deadlines will be set on a content calendar.
- Attend monthly meetings: Committee meetings occur at least once a month on the third Wednesday each month at 7:30 PM on google meet. We may choose to meet in person as needed.
- Communicate with and/or meet with respective stakeholders to create content: for example a volunteer for opportunity #1 will need to communicate with committee chairs, while a volunteer for opportunity #2 will need to coordinate with the Borough manager to tour facilities or local experts to feature trails or park features

- Copy communications@oakmontborough.com on all communications to create a record of correspondence for future committee chairs
- Commit to serve for a three year term upon appointment*
- *NOTE: Term exceptions may be made for students with relevant experience and interest
